With one person dead, Matt enlists some unlikely help as the attacks continue on people with abilities. Claire’s efforts to hide her healing abilities at her new California high school are jeopardized by a fellow student with a secret of his own. Niki and Micah leave Las Vegas in an attempt to start over. As part of his new job, Dr. Suresh must track down The Haitian. While crossing into Mexico, Maya and Alejandro’s abilities prove to be a threat to those around them. And another lost Hero falls in with a gang of Irish gangsters with clues to his past.

We see Peter getting knocked around by two hooligans with one of them being Dominic Keating from Enterprise. (Has Heroes become another dumping ground for ex-Star Trek actors like Stargate SG1 did for Farscape and Firefly actors?) Later on Caitlin comes in to clean up Peter who happens to being tied up to a chair, naked from the waist up and is glistening from sweat on his body. (I didn’t know that Peter get a new power from an Abercombie and Finch catalogue?) Caitlin notices that Peter had stopped bleeding and was starting to heal. There is something going on with his powers where either they have been muted or because of his memory gap he can only activate the power once he wills it to happen.

I had an interesting thought about Mohinder’s sister. Mohinder is sent on a assignment to find the Haitian we saw in season one. As Mohinder finds his the Haitian, we find him sick and near death. Mohinder offers an cure from his own blood. As the Haitian recovers back to health, this cure could have saved his sister. Could Mohinder go back in time with the help of Hiro and cure his sister thereby bring her back to life?

The spanish Wonder Twins, Maya and Alejandro, appeared not to have much to do in this episode but in two creepy scenes. First, the twins arrived in a safe house where later a healer offered her abilities to help cure Maya. The healer became fearful of Maya’s power as she felt the blackness in her which was strong enough to kill the devil. I’m sure she will come in handy towards the end of the serious as either a villain who can’t control her powers or uses them against our baddie, Sylar. Later, Nidia escorts the twins under the cover of night and they become separated. Maya seems to have some sort of panic attack and then WHAMM-O her eyes become black as midnight with black tears streaming down her face. Nidia also suffers ill effects and appears dead. Alejandro comes to the rescue to helps calm Maya down and reverses the effects by I guess absorbing the effects like some type of sponge. Nidia comes back to life and runs for her life away from the twins. I am really interested to see how this story gets resolved but please don’t let this become some type of Hawk and Dove arc.

Hiro’s storyline continues to be fun to watch. When Hiro in Otsu, Japan, where he asks a villager, “Have you seen a scary white man?” A villager points to a direction where Hiro sees a horse’s ass which is fitting Takezo since the association is very clear. Once the horse moves, we see Takezo passed out under a tree. There was no surprise that Takezo would not be much help as Hiro don on the mask to save Yaeko. Hiro has a good time using his powers to scare a bunch of samurai and saves Yaeko. We see a great moment where Hiro has a chance to kiss Yaeko but leaves her to tell the real Takezo what he did for him. While I expected Takezo to take all the credit and then once he got shot with arrows, I thought he would die. As luck would have it, he does die but his body heals and comes back to life.

Parkman had a brief seen at the beginning but a more important one towards the end. Parkman tries to read Angela to see what information he can gather and she shouts back at him in her mind to get out. Does she have telepathic abilities? Nathan comes in to bail his mother out of jail and he has moment with Parkman, Angela gets attacked. We never see who did the attacking but this time we can’t blame Sylar as he does not have the power of invisibility. Unless something happened off season to Sylar, I have no clues to even guess.

The only downside to this episode was the scene between Claire and HRG. While in school, Claire bear’s car was stolen and nothing was reported to the police, car insurance, anyone. I understand they are on the run but how was the car purchased on the first place. Claire goes into a tirade about wanting to help others with her abilities. She goes as far as to gut off her pinkie toe with a pair of scissors. First, there is no way she could cut off the toe without losing a great deal of blood plus the fact she did not cry as much as one would do. One could rule that her powers allow her not to feel as much pain as we saw her get her mom’s ring out of a pot of boiling water. Luckily, Claire’s pinkie toe grows back which her new pseudo boyfriend witnesses this miracle and then flies away.

Overall, while at first the show appeared on the surface not to offer much too the viewers. On a second pass of the episode on nbc.com, as I was writing this review, it dawned on me of how much story was packed into this 1 hour show. In the end, I found myself really liking the episode but not as much as “Four Months Later”.
