It’s official that Zachary Quinto (Heroes, 24) will be playing a young Spock in the upcoming Star Trek movie directed by J.J. Abrams. While the picture of Zachary above does lends itself to a young Leonard Nimoy, I am more eager to see how he will handle the role. Will we see a young Vulcan smiling on Talos IV or the more emotionally repressed Spock as seen through out most of the series? Since this is one point of contention, who will play Captain Kirk? I am going with the rumor mill that Matt Damon will helm the Enterprise. From a casting perspective, Matt has a great following from his Bourne movies and his other bodies of work. More importantly, Matt’s name can bring in non-Trek fans to the much-needed Trek franchise. Lastly, to round out the original trio, who will be playing Dr. McCoy? Gary Sinese is another speculation but will he do it with CSI:NY on his plate?

I can see Matt as Kirk…I like Gary Sinese. I can see him as Dr Mccoy. I am eager to see how this whole thing turns out.
