From Screenrant.com this afternoon, the latest word is that Winona Ryder will be playing a much younger version of Spock’s mother, Amanda Grayson. Go to this link to view a comparison picture.

Further casting news can be seen at IESB.NET. Here’s this
link. Jennifer Morrison from House was captured in a photo whereas possibly other cast members, unknown, wore hooded robes to cover up any identification as well as costumes. The site goes to speculate that Jennifer’s role might be that of Dr. Carol Marcus. Chris Hemsworth in another actor taking on the very notable role of Spock’s father, Sarek. With all the hype in the casting, I am partly excited about the see the new Trek film but Eric Bana as the film’s baddie Nero.

I was not fond of him from the first Incredible Hulk movie which, to be fair, the failure of that film falls on Ang Lee. The only thing else I’ve seen him in was in Munich. I thought he performance was strong but I was more moved by the subject matter which leaves me back to thinking, “Can Bana give a memorable performance like Ricardo Montolban’s Khan?” This has been one of the Trek movies weakness with the one other exception Alice Krige as the Borg Queen. All in all, at least this picked up my mood from my early entry on the WGA strike.
