Body of missing actor found in Vancouver park

The worst fears of the Koenig family were realized Thursday when the body of a 41-year-old man police say is Andrew Koenig was found in a Vancouver park where he was last seen just after Valentine’s Day.
Walter Koenig, who fans know as Pavel Chekov in “Star Trek,” confirmed the news Thursday night at a press conference. “My son took his own life,” Koenig told reporters at the conference, according to TrekMovie.
A body was reportedly found in Stanley Park, where the Koenigs had reported on Walter’s official Web site all week Andrew was last seen. The younger Koenig was suffering from clinical depression, according to the family, and was believed to have turned down a couple of jobs and either sold or gave away many of his possessions before traveling to Toronto, and later Vancouver, which he considered a second home.

RIP – Andrew Koenig, 41, the son of Star Trek’s Chekov, acted in Growing Pains, My Sister Sam, My Two Dads & 21 Jump Street, but wound up editing video podcasts. He didn’t renew his lease in January. Police found his body in February.
