’77 Another Fanboy Movie

This past Friday, I had the pleasure of seeing Fanboys on dvd with my close friend Mr. Gene, my co-host on The Monster Scifi Show Podcast, and Joe another friend from our collective Borders Book Shop past. We had a great time and the movie hit on all the points that we brought up in our podcast about what makes a fanboy…. a fanboy. While I will have to do a re-recording of the podcast, the sound volume was too low, I was doing some research and found this movie ’77. This movie is expected to be the next Fanboys movie with this taking place right before the Star Wars Episode IV.

I was able to get more information about the film over the weekend plus the video trailer below. ’77 was screened back in 2007 @ Star Wars Celebration IV but with no release date for a wider audience…yet. The film is still being recut and a domestic deal for distribution has not been finalized. However, looking at the trailer below, I am eager to see this in the theaters. Also, on a side note, while these two movies focus on Star Wars, check out Free Enterprise which focuses on oddly enough… Star Trek. Check out these films and my podcast on Fanboys coming soon.

Imagine if you were an amateur teenage filmmaker who stumbled upon Star Wars while visiting the ILM film studios before the film ever hit theaters in 1977. That’s the kind of magic that Patrick Read Johnson’s autobio picture 5-25-77 — recently renamed ‘77 — captures.

If you were lucky enough to see a special screening of the film at Star Wars Celebration IV in 2007, you already know how endearing this film is.

It’s been awhile since we heard anything new about the film since it’s preview. So we were delighted to get an update from Starlog magazine when they sat down to have a chat with director-screenwriter Patrick Read Johnson.
